At Taste of Sligo, we believe everyone should be able to enjoy the sights, stories, and flavours of Sligo — both in person and online. We’re committed to ensuring that our website, www.tasteofsligo.ie, is accessible to all visitors, regardless of ability or technology.

1. Our Commitment

We are dedicated to providing a website that meets the highest standards of accessibility and usability. Our goal is to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, the recognized international standard for accessible web design.

This means that:

  • Our content is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust.
  • The site works with a variety of browsers, assistive technologies, and devices.
  • Everyone — including people with visual, auditory, cognitive, and motor disabilities — can navigate and interact with our content.

2. Measures We’ve Taken

To help ensure accessibility, we:

  • Use the Kadence Theme and Accessibility Checker plugin to regularly scan for accessibility issues.
  • Maintain keyboard-navigable menus and controls.
  • Ensure sufficient color contrast between text and background.
  • Provide alt text for meaningful images.
  • Structure headings and content logically for screen reader compatibility.
  • Use clear language, consistent navigation, and descriptive link text.
  • Test pages using both automated tools and real-user feedback.

3. Ongoing Improvements

Accessibility is not a one-time project — it’s a continual effort. We regularly review and update our site as new guidelines emerge or new features are added. We strive to fix any accessibility issues promptly and welcome suggestions from our users.

4. Compatibility

Our website is designed to work with:

  • Modern browsers such as Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox.
  • Screen readers including NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver.
  • Devices such as desktops, tablets, and smartphones.

Older browsers or devices may not display all features perfectly, but core content should remain accessible.

5. Known Limitations

While we aim for full WCAG 2.2 AA compliance, some third-party content or plugins (e.g., embedded maps, booking widgets, or social media feeds) may not fully meet the same standards.

We continually review such integrations and explore accessible alternatives where possible.

5.1 Third-Party Booking Widget

Our website uses the FareHarbor booking widget to provide online reservations. FareHarbor has stated that it strives to meet WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.

We conduct regular checks to identify and address accessibility issues within our integration. While we work to ensure the booking experience is accessible, some aspects of the widget’s functionality are controlled by FareHarbor and may not fully conform to WCAG 2.2 AA at this time.

If you experience any barriers using the booking widget, please let us know. We can assist with booking over the phone, by email, or through alternative accessible methods.

6. Feedback & Contact

We’re always working to improve the accessibility of Taste of Sligo.
If you experience any difficulty using our website or encounter accessibility barriers, please let us know at trabanstrandhill@gmail.com

We’ll respond as quickly as possible and do our best to make the content accessible to you.

7. Accessibility Tools

For your convenience, we also provide an on-site Accessibility Toolbar (via our Accessibility Checker plugin), allowing you to:

  • Adjust text size and contrast
  • Toggle readable fonts
  • Navigate the site using keyboard shortcuts

8. Evaluation

This website’s accessibility is continually evaluated using:

  • Automated testing tools provided by Equalize Digital’s Accessibility Checker
  • Manual reviews by our design team
  • Feedback from users and visitors

As of the latest audit (October 2025), tasteofsligo.ie conforms to WCAG 2.2 Level AA standards.

9. Commitment to Inclusion

Taste of Sligo is all about connection — with food, culture, and people.
That connection should include everyone. We’re proud to make our digital space as welcoming and inclusive as the experiences we share.
